Regarding clicking sound in throat

2024-02-07 04:39:57
I have a clicking/bony sound in my throat on the right upper side when I purposely swallow my saliva. Its almost negligible when I'm busy in any physical activity. ENT doctor diagnosed pharyngitis and I'm done with 5 day course of antibiotics. The clicking is also not present when I'm fully relaxed or having food. Could this be psychological? Though whenever I swallow purposely the clicking is one sided, should it not be on both side in case nothing major? Extremely dull numbness on right side of mouth only feel it when I focus a lot on it. I just have a history of allergic rhinitis and right now it's just not my season. Summer takes all my issues away😌 Thank you

Muscles used during swallowing and Eustachian tube elevation and opening may produce such clicks which will be heard by the person only. Never worry. Take steam in winters and do Valsalva exercise

Hello. I don’t think the clicking sound is caused by a serious condition, it could just be the click sound produced when the Eustachian tube opens forcibly when you swallow saliva by force. It is a normal condition and you are probably highly aware of the sound, that’s all. You may perceive it on one or both sides, Nothing to worry about.
Next Steps
Can do steam inhalation two to three times a day, and the sprays used for allergic rhinitis help with Eustachian tube function as well.
Health Tips
If symptoms are too bothersome or new complaints develop, to consult ENT practitioner for endoscopy.
