Prolonged Steroid use

Hi, I have recently observed this new trend of prescribing Foracort for month like 6 months and more, even for kids. Same with nose puff based stroids. I wanted to know if this is really safe especially when it's prolonged, like for monthd? At the end, these are steroids or steroids based medications. Expert advice would be really helpful as I am getting a bit worried now.

It is how the dose is controlling the symptoms . If there is good control of symptoms , can get a PFT done and then consider dose reduction if symptoms are under control . The dose prescribed is not harmful , but adequate for control of the event .

Yes these are safe,it is in inhaled and local form hence dose is essentially very small, however these all depends on severity of the symptoms and patient profile, not necessary to give for long periods if good response and control is established, rest kindly Consult for detailed evaluation and discussion
