Hi my son is 63 days old he has prolonged jaundice. With unconjugated bilirubin 6.3. All investigation are normal range. Doc has started phenobarbitone for immature liver is it safe and what is the side effect of this drug
Giving phenobarbitone is not the practice in western countries. It is likely to be related to breast feeding if the conjugated bilirubin is below 10%.
You do not need to stop breast feeding as it does not cause harm.
Hello there.
I can understand your concern.
Let the paediatrician do what he is best at doing.

Best regards.
