Progesterone in first trimester

I'm 34 yrs old and 5 weeks pregnant. Doc prescribed me micronised progesterone 200 along with folic acid. Can i take this progesterone in the first trimester? What is the purpose of this medicine? Will it be safe?

Progesterone is used to support pregnancy These days rather than micronised  progesterone retro progestron is used
