Hi
Since I have been Assigned this query, I would like to answer it.
I’m a counselling psychologist and though your question is directed to a clinical psychologist, I m happy to help
Point wise answers to your questions
1) negative thinking or erratic behaviour is a result of some deep rooted issues your father must have or is facing
2) so here we notice that he brings up old issues and fights over them on present day. Which means old things trigger his emotional or irrational behaviour
3) a person who has Behavioural issues or irrational way of looking at things is definitely not going to look at things logically, he is bound to build up his own logic for his behaviour
4) my serious concern is this - 11-4am behaviour, speaking suddenly at 2am , abusing etc . Too early to diagnose as I need to talk and analyse- why is he awake at this hour and whom is he talking to ? Can he hear voices? See things or people talking to him ? Etc etc
If so you don’t have to worry as the imbalance or deficiency of chemicals in our brain are responsible for this
5/6) ok so there has been series of events since his childhood which can’t be overlooked
About treatment CBT may or may not work in extreme cases
According to me we may have to use eclectic counselling or integrated counselling as I don’t just see a behaviour issue here , it’s much more deep rooted to something else

Just refrain from questioning his behaviour. You should leave this to a professional ,as we don’t want any counter reaction in the process
