Postpartum Depression and weakness

Hi Doctor, I am in my postpartum phase, passed 8 months of delivery. I am not able to take proper sleep due to kid at night and in day time I have to do my Job. No one seems supportive near me. Even I am living in a Toxic environment at my in-laws place. They use abusive language, taunts and try to make me feel down on regular basis. My husband is also not a supportive kind of person, and he is not allowing me to stay out of these people. It's seems like an imprisonment for me. My head is approx at the stage, where I feel continuous pinching in it. I feel sleepy all day and whenever I get a chance to sleep, I can't sleep at that time. Honestly I feel worthless on this earth. I get thoughts of ending my life and my daughter's too. Because  I'll be no more, no one is there to take care of her. Do I need to take some sleeping pills or something else in this case. Please suggest.

Hi.. the postpartum period is really stressful as you have to take care of the baby also along with your routine work. You will need social support for the same. Did you discuss these issues with your parents, friends or siblings. Maybe you can get help from them. You can think of hiring someone to take care of your daughter. Discussing these issues with your husband may help in gaining some support from him. Also you need to take medicines for your postpartum depression. Practicing relaxation exercises can help.
Next Steps
consult for further evaluation and management.

Looks like depression. But needs detailed evaluation. Contact a Psychiatrist, advised not to delay.

Hello The symptoms you're describing are due to hormonal changes in the the postpartum period plus the adverse environmental factors in the form of family environment. The depressive features are predominant in you and you need to have a consultation with a psychiatrist.
