Since having my first child a year and a half ago I’ve had self diagnosed post partum depression. Now, I’m expecting my second child and it has gotten worse. I’m terrified to have my second child and for this to be worse.

Hello dear, Post partum (post pregnancy) and peri partum (surrounding the period of pregnancy) are high risk periods for depressive episode. Post partum depression related history does increase the risk of depression occurring in the further pregnancies. Hence I do understand the reoccurrence of your symptoms. However please get this depression treated, as depression is a treatable medical illness. Please consult with a psychiatrist near you for comprehensive assessment and treatment. Untreated depression associated with pregnancy can have adverse effects on mother as well as the child, hence please do not hesitate or delay in seeking help... Be well assured that your condition can be helped with proper guidance and treatment. Hope this helps you. Best wishes for your health and future.
