Platelet Decreasing since last 1 year

My uncle is suffering from low platelets. His maleria/dengue report was negative but still his platelets is decreasing since last 1 year. He visited doctor. Doctor prescribed few medicines and after taking medicine platelets stopped decreasing but when he stop taking medicine again his platelets start decreasing. How to handle this problem ?
