Hi Doctor, I am 35.3 weeks pregnant and type 2 diabetic, in my pregnancy scan placental maturity grade 3 is showing, as I researched I got to know it's not good to have grade 3 maturity before 36 weeks, is it harmful for baby, will be able to deliver baby safely, please check the report and let me know as I am very worried for my baby's well being.

It’s alright, as your delivery will be planned in a couple of weeks, it shouldn’t be a problem. Just make sure to keep sugars under control and keep a close watch on baby’s movements. If there is any decrease in baby’s movements pls review at your hospital immediately.

Yes great 3 placental  maturity signifies hypermature placenta Hypermature placenta may not be able to deliver adequate amount of Nutrition to the baby Since you are diabetic you are adviced to go for  delivery after 38completed weeks Till then make sure that your sugar levels are normal you are counting daily fetal moment counts adequately a Doppler or a bio physical profile till you deliver can ensure fetal well being

Maturity in diabetes occurs early that is 2 weeks advanced maturity is there. So if placenta is grade 3 in maturity but color Doppler and rest parameters are normal. Blood sugar is under control then no need to worry
