Hello there...I can understand your concern. Pilonodal sinus occurs due to free end of hair growing into the skin and forming an abscess. In severe cases, the pus will have to be drained and entire cavity should be removed. In such cases doctor will advise surgery. Only preventive measure is to shave the hairs regularly, so that they don't become an abscess again. Kindly consult a general surgeon for further evaluation.
