Yes,it’s safe.4 doses must be given- at the age of 6,10&14 weeks and booster at 18 months.It is administered by intramuscular route at the thigh of a child.Pain at injection site and mild fever may be there but these can be avoided by using new painless vaccine. There are 80% less chances of pain and fever with it.
Pentavalent vaccine is given at 6 wk, 10wk and 14 wk of life. It is safe to be used in infants.
Fever and pain at injection site is common side effect that may occur for 2 to 3 days.
