Here are a few possibilities for the painless red cyst on his wrist: Ganglion Cyst: These are common noncancerous lumps that often develop along the tendons or joints of the wrists or hands. They are usually filled with a jelly-like fluid. While they are generally harmless, they can sometimes grow in size and may require medical attention. Epidermoid Cyst: These cysts are often filled with keratin, a protein found in skin, hair, and nails. They can appear as raised bumps with a rough texture and are generally benign. Lipoma: Lipomas are soft, fatty lumps that are generally harmless. They can sometimes grow in size, but they are usually painless. Infection or Abscess: If the area is red and has a rough texture, it could be a sign of infection or an abscess. Infections might require medical treatment, including antibiotics. Dermatofibroma: These are small, hard bumps that can be red or brown and often have a rough surface. While they are usually harmless, they can sometimes be removed if they cause discomfort. Since the cyst is growing in size, it's crucial for your husband to consult with a dermatologist . We can examine the cyst, possibly order imaging tests, and determine the appropriate course of action, which may include drainage, removal, or other interventions depending on the diagnosis. If there are any changes in color, size, or if your husband experiences pain, it's especially important to seek medical attention promptly.
