Your symptoms are suggestive of rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease that can cause joint pain and damage throughout your body. The joint damage that RA causes usually happens on both sides of your body. I would advise you to meet a rheumatologist so that you can be examined and undergo investigations such as RA factor, CBC,
CRP, anti-CCP, etc. to find the underlying cause and have it treated accordingly. These following steps may help:
- Exercise regularly so that your joints stay mobile
- Rest well, aim to sleep 6-8 hours a day
- Apply ice over the regions you have swelling, apply heat over the area you have muscle spasm and gently massage the area.
- Have a diet rich in omega fatty acids such as salmon, tuna, flax seeds, chia seeds, etc., antioxidant rich food such as blueberries, dark chocolates, spinach, etc., flavinoid rich food such as broccoli, green tea, soy products, etc.
- Maintain a healthy weight as per your BMI.
