Pain in upper leftside hip

I have pain in my upper side left hip from past one year which caused by doing an excercise at the gym..I am not doing any gym since then but the pain doesn't go away..It hurts most at the time of sitting on a car seat or on the ground with cross legs..while I feel no pain on standing..pls suggest..??
