Pain in throat since 2 or 3 months

Hello Doctor, I am having this strange mild pain in the throat near the adam's apple which keeps varying in intensity. Use of hot water does keep it controlled (use of cold water on the other hand makes it severe) , but since the problem has persisted for so long I am really worried now.
