Pain behind knee

Whenever I sit for some time and then start to move, I have pain behind my knee and can not walk properly for some time. But, once I continue to walk, pain goes away. This has been happening for 2 months now. The pain has increased. It started after I played football 2 or 3 times.

Avoid sitting Cross legged. Avoid Squatting- Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Behind the knee only when imitating motion could be due to hamstring injury not fully healed now Do hamstring stretches it should be fine

Hello. Is there any history of clicking or locking in knee? With a football injury (?twisting mechanism), you can sometimes have a meniscus injury. If it is not getting better, please consult an orthopaedic surgeon. You may need an MRI scan too to establish diagnosis. Dr M Vashishtha FRCS
