PAIN & PROBLEM IN OPENING MOUTH
My lower left wisdom tooth was extracted on 9th September. Since then my mouth barely opens to a vertical gap of less than an inch and I also feel lot of pain and stiffness while trying to open my mouth. Is it normal? How long will it take before I will be able to open my mouth completely and freely?

You probably must have been given sutures on the extraction socket which would be removed on the 7th post operative day. Till that time inflammation around that area can be expected in the healing phase.
When the inflammation involves the muscles mouth opening gets restricted.
Have you been doing warm saline rinses and moist fomentation from outside as your dentist might have recommended????
Following the instructions meticulously is the least of the responsibilities of the patient in the post operative healing phase.
For discomforts that bother you during this phase, some medications might have been prescribed and I hope you are taking them diligently. I would just reiterate my point to follow the instructions carefully and have some patience till the healing gets completed.
