My mother is facing intense pain while walking or pressing a single point above her ankle. She is not able to lift the leg properly while walking now. The pain suddenly started midnight. What can be the issue and what can be done.

Must be an overnight cramp of the calf muscle. Walking with a tight calf can produce stretch at the ankle.
