Non/itchy rash on back

I developed a rash on my lower back about 2 months ago. It's not itchy at all. It seems that the area is becoming darker. I visited a doctor who said that it looked like herpes (the kind associated with chicken pox) and he prescribed Acitop. I have been using it but to no avail. I've done a comprehensive STD check - all negative.
