2 day old kid (weight 2.8 kg) with bilirubin level 17,advised phototherapy which he received for 1 day,level came to 16.8 ,how to proceed

You have to continue double surface phototherapy and monitor bilirubin twice a day. And have to assess risk factors in any like blood group incompatibility etc. At this level it won't affect baby's brain. It should not go above 20. Don't worry and continue phototherapy and follow advise of your pediatrician.
