My uric acid level is 7.04, how bad???

I am 39 years old male, normal range is 3.4 - 7.0 got immense pain in left toe following which did uric acid blood test. while i am ready to give up non-veg food to avoid proteins, its difficult to give up alcohol. is it okay if i avoid sugary drinks and have it in plain water? i have been prescribed allopurin by doc along with a couple of anti -inflammatory tabs. Please guide
