Hello doctor. Is Mitral Valve prolapse an inherited disorder? What are the chances of me having it if my parents don't have it? And is it a serious disease?

Genetics of MVP is debatable. But it is quite common. Almost 5 percent of population have it. It is not a serious disease. About 1 percent of people with MVP can develop complications. So it is usually not treated unless one is symptomatic.
