A faint line next to a strong control line on a home
pregnancy test usually still counts as positive, since the test picks up even a small amount of the pregnancy hormone. A lighter line is common very early on, before hormone levels have built up.
Next Steps
Retest with your first urine of the morning in 2 to 3 days, when the line should look darker. A blood beta-hCG test gives a clearer answer sooner if you'd rather not wait.
Health Tips
Once the pregnancy is confirmed, please see your gynaecologist so an early scan can date it and check everything looks normal.
