Medication change

Started taking telmisartan/amlodipin 40/5 for 7 months now, by a GP.  I have been told that when my BP will be controlled, amlodipine needs to stop, only telmisartan will be continued.  Now my BP has come down to 110/75 plus minus (digital machine) for a long time, like 3-4 months. I check 2 times monthly. Should I consider change in medication?

Now your bp is normal condition ,but changing the drug is not recommended because of some other conditions.so you continue with this treatment.

110/75 is an acceptable reading and ideally change of medicine it not advised. If you have some complaints or side effects, kindly consult a physician before changing them.

There was a time when BP meds used to be changed over and over again. What we now understand is if your blood pressure has come under control with ‘tablet/s’ then we should not change unless some other reason. All the best. J G S R clinic
