For trigger points, best is soft tissue manual therapy techniques, that would break/release trigger points. If they r latent u wont feel anything except maybe some tightness or heavyness. But if they r active they r nuisance.
Its better to go for full release of the trigger points....instead of looking for immediate things.
For immediate, u can use hot fomentation, dry needling(very effective).
If u use ur posture properly, there is less chance that trigger points occur. So after they r treated. Do the exercises prescribed.
And keep doing them atleast thrice weekly afterwards.
