My wife is pregnant and she is well into her 38th week. The USG test today showed that her amniotic fluid is quite low at 7.cm . The doctor advised to go for labor induction immediately. I m completely confused and terribly nervous. I would be very grateful to u if u please guide me on this.

Hello. By definition..oligohydramnios is AFI below 5cm. And hence the AFI at 38th week being 7cm is normal andthere is no indication if induction unless there is foetal disress or the baby is IUGR.

Hi, if at all you want to wait for 1 more week, get the ultrasound Doppler study, if normal then get CTG done once in 48 hrs till she gets admitted for delivery, but there will not be much gain.

If your wife is already 38wks pregnant and liquor has reduced to 7 then there is no point in waiting ... Its better to go for induction of labour
