Left supraclavicular lymph node

2022-01-17 12:43:40
Noticed since one month, located around 2cm above the attachment of clavicular head of sternocleidomastoid (along the outer border of muscle), slightly mobile, soft-firm consistency, oval shape around 0.8 cm x 0.4 cm, non tender. Blood tests were done and cbc parameters were normal, esr of 13mm/hr (EDTA). Took ceftum BD × 5 days , not much reduction in size of node , No other symptoms. Past history: Used to have multiple episodes of upper respiratory tract infections (sinusitis/ tonsillitis/pharyngitis) that relieves on medication (augmetin , had to take montelukast  course once). Is this a worrysome issue?

Yes, if the lymph node is not subsiding by a course of antibiotics, then it could be a sign of tuberculosis infection, also you mentioned recurrent upper respiratory tract infections. Please get MTB gene xpert test done at the earliest
