Left foot swelling with mild pain

My wife's left foot is swollen from last 1 month, she is having mild pain . She is 6 months pregnant. Is it normal in 2nd trimester. Our OBG has informed usually swelling happens in 3rd trimester. Please suggest what can be done to reduce swelling
