Left Ear pain since 3days

Hi! My left ear is paining since last 3/4 days. Pain is not continuously felt. It comes, stays for some time & then disappears. Is it related to some temporary wax or is it because of an infection? Do I need to investigate further with a ENT specialist? Kindly advice.
