Hello, I am 65 years old. I had undergone mitral stenosis surgery years before. I am currently under stroke rehabilitation taking acitrom, lanoxin and nebivolol tablets. While taking echo with my cardiologist, he said everything is normal. But, I found in the report that my left atria is 5.5 cm. Is this normal? How do I decrease the size of my left atria?

Normal size of Left Atria is upto 4 cm. Mitral Stenosis causes LA to increase in size. 5.5 cm is definitely an enlarged LA. You can't do much to reduce its size now. But keep on taking Acitrom to prevent any clot formation in LA, and maintain the INR between 2-3.
