My patella dislocated last year and I haven't felt better since that. Some days before before, I was diagnosed with Patellar Maltracking due to tight lateral retinaculum and he says he needs to do surgery for it which I want to avoid. My query is can tight lateral retinaculum be treated with exercises alone ? I am ready to undergo physiotherapy. I really don't want to undergo surgery.

Physiotherapy can be done..but the improvement rates only 10 to 15%..there is no harm in attempting it..if you fall into the 15% you are lucky or else you will have to go with surgery..
Whenever there is patellar dislocation there is a tear of MPFL and it doesnt heal completely on conservative treatment...if u have patellar maltracking then there is no medicine to bring it on track...u will need surgery to correct maltracking otherwise knee will go into arthritis
