Many babies around 2 months of age have frequent stools, gas, and fussiness due to an immature digestive system, and this does not always mean true lactose intolerance.
If your baby is gaining weight well and does not have blood in the stools, persistent vomiting, or other concerning symptoms, the problem is often temporary and tends to improve gradually over the next few months, especially by 3–4 months of age.
Continue breastfeeding, follow your pediatrician’s feeding advice, and monitor weight gain. If symptoms are severe, persist despite treatment, or are associated with poor growth or blood in stools, a reassessment may be needed to rule out conditions such as cow’s milk protein allergy.
