Adult toothpaste contain 1000 PPM fluoride and the kids toothpaste normally contains 450 PPM fluoride. Residents of India, especially North India have high fluoride level of underground water so high level of fluoride in the toothpaste is not required as it can cause mild to moderate staining on the teeth and this is permanent staining which cannot be removed. Although fluoride makes that is stronger but higher than normal dose makes them slightly brittle and aesthetically displeasing. That is why kids toothpaste contain less fluoride to avoid that discoloration while the teeth are being formed inside the bone. After approximately 8 years of age the teeth have been formed and switching to a fluoridated toothpaste will not make much of a difference.
A better option will be to use zero fluoride toothpaste which are easily available with the chemist these days till approximately 8 years of age.
