My mom both kidney are damaged 3.8% as per doctor. Her whole body is swelling.What medicine he gave post that also se is not passing much urine. Doctor said if urine didn't come so we need to go for Dialysis.pls confirm is it one time or lifetime we need to depend on Dialysis. N what is the chances of surviavl in this

Dear Sir, if the kidney damage has been chronic then she would need dialysis for her lifetime. The other alternative is kidney transplantation but most patients will need stabilisation on dialysis for sometime before being fit for transplantation. Please discuss the matter in detail with your nephrologist and decide accordingly. Take care.
