Kid suffering recurrent fever and cold

My son is 3 years old. He catches cold and fever evry 2 r 3 months. My paediatrician suggests antiboitics with some other syrups. I keep on hearing that giving antibiotics often wud reduces his immunity. How often can we giv antibiotics. Why this congestion is always coming back? Please help!!
