It contains camphor so is it safe to consume this to relieve cold? I read on google consumption of camphor with mouth is poisonous.

Unlikely since it is approved by authorities. Better to take a guidance of an ayurvedic practitioner for correct dosages. It is a very old preparation and had there been any significant side effects, it would have had rolled back. Anything in excess or in incorrect dosages could be harmful.
