Iron deficiency and need of supplements?

2026-05-24 02:23:40
I recently got a blood test done and my iron levels are at 59, total binding capacity 388, Hemoglobin is 12 and generally I feel bit tired by the evening and don't feel like working .Appetite has reduced over the last few months and am having hairfall. Do all these symptoms indicate an iron deficiency and need of supplements? My B12 is also on the lower side -211 and Vitamin D is 26.

Yes, your symptoms — evening fatigue, reduced appetite, hair fall, and low energy — are very consistent with the deficiencies shown in your reports. Your iron is low with a high TIBC (which confirms iron deficiency), B12 at 211 is borderline low, and Vitamin D at 26 is deficient. All three together are contributing to how you are feeling, and all three need to be addressed, not just one.
Next Steps
Please consult me directly on Practo for a detailed evaluation so I can guide you on the right supplements, doses, and duration based on your complete picture.

Hi! 😊 Your iron levels are low, along with borderline B12 and Vitamin D. These can commonly cause tiredness, reduced appetite, and hair fall. Proper supplementation and diet changes usually help a lot. Feel free to book a consultation for a clear, personalized plan.

Thank you for asking the question mam! I can understand the situation very well. Tiredness could be due to anemia or low iron as well so many other causes. As I can see, your iron profile is normal but b12 levels are on the lower side . So I’ll suggest you to take b12 supplementation and revert back to us if symptoms resolves after that. Thank you.
Next Steps
Next step is to get b12 supplementation (oral, nasal or subcutaneous ) and oral vitamin d along with calcium supplements.
Health Tips
Kindly include curd (in the noon), egg in the morning , milk in the night and fish if possible for dietary sources of vitamin b12 and calcium .
