Insulin pen or injection

I am type 1 insulin dependent diabetic taking injections every day for last 10 years. Recently i read about insulin pens which look less intimidating. How are they different from injections and are they better or worse?

They easy to operate. Convenient for travelling. But they are little expensive compared to vial and syring. For example. Human mixtard 30/70 vial 400units costs 150 INR and red 40u syring costs 7 INR. Mixtard flexpen costs around 350 for 300units . Needle roughly 10inr. Refillable cartridge pans are slightly cheaper.
