Itching inside the vagina during your period is usually caused by a yeast infection. The warm, moist environment under a pad encourages this kind of fungal overgrowth. Scented pads or wipes can also irritate the area and make itching worse.
Next Steps
Switch to a fragrance-free pad and change it every 4 to 6 hours. Avoid scented washes or wipes until this settles. An over-the-counter antifungal cream such as clotrimazole usually helps if it is fungal.
Health Tips
Please see a gynaecologist if the itching doesn't ease in a couple of days. Unusual discharge or a bad odour also needs an in-person check to confirm the cause.
