Injury on left knee

2016-12-25 08:55:10
I met with some internal injury on my left knee for which I had done MRI, the key findings are: - Complete tear of anterior cruciate ligament. - Mild medial meniscus extrusion with complex tear of body extending to posterior horn of medial meniscus as grade II horizontal tear. - Grade I tear of MCL. - Mild joint effusion. Doctors are suggesting for surgery which I dont want due to some other reasons. Is there any alternative to surgery like plaster, medicine etc? Kindly suggest!

Avoid Squatting- Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Doctors are right.should be operated. Arthroscopic Acl reconstruction to be done. It's one of the most common procedure done and has great results
Next Steps
Get Physio and get full range of motion.to be operated 4 weeks after injury when full range of motion is achieved
Health Tips
If not operated it will lead to early osteoarthritis and u may end up having knee pain after few years

Unfortunately for this kind of injury surgery is usually required as the knee is unstable and if left so then chances of an early degeneration of knee is there. If you want to delay the surgery then you immobilise your the knee for three to four weeks followed by physio and reassessment.
