Hello!
I’ll take queries one by one.
A. Lifting weights:
Medicine works in tandem with science but humans, at times, work purely on emotions.
There is no scientific data that suggests that a person should never lift heavy in his lifetime after hernia surgery, either open or lap. The robustness of repair depends upon technique and use of mesh. The mesh slowly becomes part of the body that supports your abdominal wall. Take it easy in the begging but don’t restrict your activities. Pain is best guide for ANY physical activity.
B. Impotence
I assume you meant infertility. No for impotence and a rare event of sterility if it’s a bilateral hernia surgery. Very very rare in the real world.
