Within 24 hours you should deliver as increased exposure to infection can cause problems with the baby so you have to go for induction if you don't get period pain at least after six hours of water breaking

Do not wait Induction advised before infection happens or water gets too low.. don't put baby at risk for your silly reasons trust your doctor.

Once water breaks usually in 2 to 4 hours some pain will start However induction is done to slightly speed up the process so that there is reduced interval between leaking and delivery

Breaking of waters should be dealt with by induction of labour at 36 weeks

Once leaking starts, spontaneous labour pain will also follow. There are many things to be taken into consideration. Your week of pregnancy and fetal well being being the main points. If all is well then we can safely wait for 24 hours for the labour pain to start.  If it doesn't start then induction of labour pains should be the next step. Ultimately it all depends on the kind of setup you are in. And the doctor's experience and protocols. Following what the doctor advises is the safest thing to do as the treating doctor knows best.
