A blocked feeling in one ear that has persisted for years and only opens partially should not be left unexamined. It could reflect Eustachian tube dysfunction, fluid behind the eardrum, wax, or another middle-ear problem. Persistent one-sided ear blockage in particular should always be properly evaluated, as unilateral symptoms occasionally need closer attention.
Next Steps
Please see an ENT in person for an ear examination and a hearing test (audiometry); tympanometry can check middle-ear function. The doctor can then advise the right treatment based on the actual cause.
Health Tips
Reducing or stopping smoking will help your Eustachian tube and overall ENT health. Avoid poking the ear or using cotton buds, and please do not self-medicate long-term without a proper diagnosis.
