Hyperthyroid/Levothyroxine

I have hyperthyroidism which the doctor has prescribed Levothyroxine. However my research shows that that is treating hypo thyroid. Can you clear this up for me? I've seen on the internet there's other drugs that are used for hyperthyroidism. Just want to make sure I'm taking the right drug.

Levothyroxine is used for hypothyroidism, when tsh levels are more than normal. It's not used in hyperthyroidism where tsh levels are less than normal.
