Hi must accept thats a great question.Trying to answer to the best of my abilities. Hydrophobinum is a nosode .Medicines made from animal part or secretions are called nosode.Just like snake venoms are used to treat snake bite after going through processing.Similarly saliva from rabid dogs are taken and treated (diluted multiple number of times so that miniscule of that remains). Now Homoeopathy is traditionally a wholistic (mental +physical )and focusses more on symptoms rather than the mere pathology,hence hydrophobinum is used whenever the symptoms would permit.As far as your other question-Substitute for vaccine,personally not observed or treated same hence difficult to comment .
