  4. High Myopia. I go for any eye test?

Today I got eye check up done for my daughter her numbers are OD : sphere : 3, cylindrical: 4 & OS: sphere : 6.25, Cylindrical: 2. Though her cylindrical number is constant from last 2 years but her spherical number in continuously increase. We got last check up done in September 2023 that time it was OD : sphere : 2.50 & OS: Sphere 5.75. So within span of 7 months it increases by 0.50. Whether anything serious ? And till what age it will increase. Should I go for any eye test ? She is having atropine drop at night. Pls guide. I will be very thankful to you all.

Hi, high myopia like your daughters' will increase upto 25 years since the eyeball is also enlarging with the physique.A 0.50 increase is normal.It is normal to have moderate myopia in people who are having too much near work in childhood like studying. Atropine drops can decrease the progression of myopia since it relaxes ciliary muscle inside eye.And your daughter should go for regular retinal checkup every year since high myopia. Power can increase up to 24 yers.pl wear constantly.Minimise the screen time.pl consult ophthalmologist for further evaluation and treatment.
