Most fevers in children are viral in origin and take 3-7 days to subside completely. If not accompanied by any other symptoms like vomiting or loose motions or coughing and breathlessness or dullness and refusal to feed, just give paracetamol for fever and repeat every 4 hours if required. Use syp combiflam instead of plain paracetamol, give 6 ml,repeat at same gap,but ONLY if not responding to plain paracetamol. If mild, give just steam inhalations for cold and cough and decongestant nasal drops for nasal block or increased cough on lying down.

For fever if it’s not coming down with PCM you should give syp ibugesic plus around 1.4 ml SOS. For cold or starting of antibiotics he needs to be evaluated
