Plz tell me what happens when ferritin increases??does it affect liver??took an iron injection(jilazzo) last year due to iron deficiency anemia..Since then my ferritin levels have increased(twice above normal value),haematology doc said ferritin is not high due to iron inj but due to some gastro ailments..Gastro doc said its due to some inflammation in body..What is the actual reason??what symptoms can it cause??how to reduce the already elevated ferritin levels?

Ferritin stores iron and releases it as per needed by the body. It represents iron reserves in body. It can be low in low iron reserves. It can be increased in inflammatory and certain organic conditions.
