Hepatitis B

2025-04-17 22:55:14
My mom is a dialysis patient while testing std for her dialysis (first time) we found hepatitis B virus and the doctor said it could be the reason for the previous blood transfusion. Her test report All hepatitis b panels are negative Except total hepatitis core antigen And Anti-Hbe is negative which is s/co value of more than 1... Please advise what it should be... Even dna PCR not deducted.... Doctor didn't say anything said just need to wait and see and no medication required. For me hepatitis b panel test all are negative except Anti - HBe only positive with is s/co value of less than 1(0.72) i enquired about that to doctor all are negative except anti Hbe, y.  she replied you not exposed to the virus that's y... But please clarify doctors of practo then y my anti Hbe alone positive... And what about my mom result... Is she fine???

It means she was infected sometime in past, but is healing now.

For Your Mom (Dialysis Patient): HBsAg – Negative: No active Hepatitis B infection. HBV DNA PCR – Not detected: Excellent. No viral replication. Anti-HBc Total – Positive: Indicates past exposure to Hepatitis B (could be from previous transfusion). Anti-HBe – Slightly positive (S/Co > 1): Not concerning alone if other markers are negative. Conclusion: She had past exposure, but no active infection now. No treatment needed, just regular monitoring as the doctor advised. For You (28-year-old male): All markers are negative except Anti-HBe, which is weakly positive (S/Co 0.72). Since Anti-HBc is negative, this is likely a false positive or lab variation. Your doctor is right — you were likely never exposed. Recommendation: You should get Hepatitis B vaccination as a preventive step. If you want a proper review of both reports and a follow-up plan, you can message me directly at eight seven six two seven four nine nine seven four or book a video consultation on Practo.
