Hemoglobin level is 13.2 - orofer xt
Hi my wife is pregnant for 3 months. She completed the first trimester. All blood tests are taken, nt scan, double marker tests, first trimester screening test are all done. All looks fine. Now for second Trimester, doctor prescribed for oroferxt tablet to take it after food in dinner. My question is her hemoglobin level is 13.2 which we took test on 3rd April. Even though it is before 1 month, we are not sure why she prescribed for oroferxt. Could you please advise and confirm whether we can continue to take oroferxt or is it mandatory tablet for pregnancy?

Yes, once a women completes her first trimester , is put on Iron & Calcium supplement . This is because baby needs oxygen which haemoglobin contain iron carries compensated by the mother through placenta . . When she enters 2 Nd trimester the iron starts decreasing in maternal blood as iron is transferred to foetus . So if iron supplement is not given mother will develop anaemia . So along with healthy food , iron and calcium supplements are given .
